Oamaru Weaving is in beautiful Victorian Oamaru on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand. Oamaru is 3 hours south of Christchurch, and one and a half hours north of Dunedin. From Central Otago, it is 3 hours from Wanaka. We are in a 1880 era Oamaru stone building which we share with The Oamaru Textile Exchange. Once you get to Oamaru you need to find the Historic Precinct, the only complete Victorian area in New Zealand, still in its original location and pretty much unaltered. The whole of the main street (Thames Street) has historic buildings, but a lot have had aluminum joinery added and are painted bright colours, whereas in the Tyne and Harbour Streets area the buildings still retain their originality. Some of us even dress in Victorian costume so prepare to be surprised!
